Job Summary
The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the UCSF Medical Center and its providers and payors. These services include but are not limited to: drug procurement storage and security; safe accurate and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies within the Medical Center; drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. The Department of Pharmaceutical Services is affiliated with the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy an academic department within the School of Pharmacy which has primary responsibility for teaching professional courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum clinical research and public and clinical service.
The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services share their philosophy of pharmaceutical care. Under Pharmaceutical Services the Pharmacy Technician II provides pharmaceutical care to patients at Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses and specialized services to researchers on campus. All Pharmacy Technicians are accountable to the supervising or operating pharmacist who is legally responsible by virtue of state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by Pharmaceutical Services. The Pharmacy Technician II performs all activities related to medication preparation inventory management and computer entries of prescriptions.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (includes hands-on training period during externship) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum two (2) years experience in a Specialty Pharmacy and/or in a retail/community pharmacy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Pharmacy Technician Certification CPhT
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
