Required Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy approved pharmacy technician training program.

Required Experience:

Three (3) years of pharmacy experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or (NHA)

Licensed: Possess current pharmacy technician registration in the State of Florida.

• Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy Supervisor/Pharmacy or a Pharmacist performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program.
• Responsible for maintaining confidential reports entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system preparing intravenous medications (IV) (e.g. chemotherapeutic preparations hyperalimentations and antibiotics) filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies delivering supplies to patient care areas and managing pharmacy automation.
• Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g. documenting medication histories chemotherapy IV compounding preparing sterile IV medications inventorying narcotics or maintaining pharmacy inventory).
• Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians. Direct Supervision. A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments.
• A pharmacist reviews the technicians work for completeness and accuracy or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built into the nature of the work.
