Job Description

This position is located in the Bengal Pharmacy in Arco Idaho. The successful candidate will work 32 hours per week.

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist performs support in the preparation and distribution of medications; maintains medication and supply inventory; maintains patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal state and local laws and regulations as well as pharmacy policies and procedures performs related work.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Examples of Duties

1. DISPENSING ACTIVITIES. Typical responsibilities include:packaging prescription medications including controlled substances requiringspecial handling in accordance with safety measures; separates bulk quantitiesof medications and medical supplies into individual doses; places unit doses ofmedications in patient containers; separates medication according totime-of-day for administration; repackages and labels medications; operatespackaging machine to package and label medication and sealing machine forliquid medication doses; conducts sterilization procedure for premeasuredintermuscular medication in syringes in conjunction with pharmacist; preparesmedications for patients on outings pass or discharge; records orders on patientdrug profile sheets; reads and interprets provider medication orders.

2. INVENTORY MANAGEMENT. Typical responsibilities include: labels maintainsand cleans medication drawers and prepares them for 24-hour periods; alertspharmacist to unused medications in patient containers and other unusualsituations; maintains shelf stock of medications and supplies; maintains bothprescription and over the counter drug inventory through inventory controlpractices; checks for expiration dates on medications on a monthly basis.

3. CUSTOMER SERVICE. Typical responsibilities include: processesmedication returns; help customers with technical and patient demographicquestions requests and complaints via phone or in-person; provides customersinformation about products and services; triages and prioritizes phone calls tocorrect pharmacy personnel.

4. RECORDKEEPING. Typical responsibilities include: maintains records ofmedications procurement and distribution under the guidance of a pharmacistand state and federal regulations; maintains files of patient charts ordersand hardcopy prescriptions; records information on resident medication files;tabulates medication recordings; documents solid and liquid medicationpackaging for federal and state records; keeps records on expiration dates ofall medications; keeps cost-of-drugs data current; prepares medication profilesof patients; maintains proper invoicing of medications received returned ordestroyed.

Minimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of:

- Medical and pharmaceutical terms andabbreviations.
- Metric measurements used in pharmaceutical applications.

Experience:

- Using keyboard to enter and retrieve data.
- Incumbent must be eligible for registration with the board of pharmacy as apharmacy technician. Successful candidates may not begin work until pharmacytechnician certification is successfully obtained from the Idaho State Board ofPharmacy.

Supplemental Information

Incumbents in these positions:

- Are required to lift and carry 30 pounds.
- Stand forup to four hours at a time while performing job duties.
- Work is performed underthe direct supervision of an Idaho licensed pharmacist and in accordance withIdaho Pharmacy Regulations.
