Are you a sophomore interested in learning about careers in public or private credit Would you like to get a jump start on 2028 summer internship recruiting while networking with leaders at a premier asset manager PGIM will host a 3-day sophomore externship in January 2027 to educate students on its credit business and opportunities for internships and careers with the firm.

PGIM Private & Public Credit Overview:

PGIM is the asset management business of Prudential Financial headquartered in Newark NJ. Our externship will showcase our Credit business within PGIM:

Private Credit:

  • PGIMs private capital investment business managing over$100 billionin private debt and equity investments across more than1000 companies worldwide(as of 3/31/26). Private Credit focuses on long-term partnerships with middle-market companies offering customized financing solutions and deep industry expertise:Private Credit

Public Credit:

  • PGIMs public fixed income business managing over $900 billion of active solutions for over 1000 institutional clients (as of 3/31/26). Public credit focuses on all fixed income sectors including but not limited to: investment grade leveraged finance emerging markets and securitized products:Public Credit

Program Overview:

Dates: January 5-7 2027

Location: Prudential Headquarters Newark NJ

Selected participants will:

  • Learn about careers in public and private credit

  • Participate in training sessions and case studies

  • Network with analysts associates and senior leaders

  • Shadow investment professionals

  • Explore PGIMs internship and full-time career opportunities

  • Complete first-round interviews for the 2028 Summer Internship Program

Travel and lodging will be provided for selected participants.

During the sophomore externship well be showcasing 3 different investment professional internship programs across public & private credit. These businesses use their internship program as the main feeder into their full-time Analyst programs:

Private Credit (1 Program):

  • Our private credit teams span Corporate Finance Real Assets Alternatives and Corporate Project Workouts. Team members are actively involved in financial modeling due diligence industry research and preparing investment memos while collaborating closely with senior leadership portfolio managers and external stakeholders to structure and negotiate transactions that align with strategic investment goals all within a dynamic high-impact environment that fosters professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Following completion of the externship a summer 2028 internship opportunity could exist in any of the following cities: Atlanta Chicago Dallas San Francisco Los Angeles Minneapolis Newark and New York.

Public Credit (2 Programs):

  • Research: The Credit Research team focuses on fundamental investment analysis defining relative value within issuer capital structures and industry sectors and communicating investment recommendations to Portfolio Managers. The fundamental credit investment research conducted by this team is an integral component of the portfolio construction process. Day-to-day responsibilities for members of this team include industry data collection & trend analysis financial statement analysis financial modeling & forecasting assessment of business & financial strategy and monitoring market movements through daily meetings with portfolio managers economists and addition this team regularly interacts with management of issuing companies industry consultants and Wall Street counterparts.

  • Portfolio Analysis: The Portfolio Analysis Group evaluates portfolio positioning with respect to risk exposures and alpha objectives provides portfolio construction and alignment insight and analyzes performance drivers across a multitude of investment products and processes to deliver performance attribution. Utilizing a variety of analytical tools the group integrates specific client guidelines objectives and risk tolerances into the firms investment process to ensure complete portfolio management and analytics are in place. The group collaborates and works closely with Senior Analysts Portfolio Managers Traders Risk Managers the Quantitative Team Credit Research Client Advisory and Sales and Marketing.

  • Following completion of the externship a summer 2028 internship opportunity (across both research and portfolio analysis) could exist in the following city: Newark.

What youll need:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited bachelors degree program graduating between December 2028 and May 2029

  • All majors welcome! Candidates should have an interest in exploring careers across asset management/investments/finance

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required
