Perfusionist RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to)
- Operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during open-heart surgical procedures ensuring optimal patient hemodynamic stability and oxygenation
- Set up calibrate and maintain all perfusion equipment including the cardiac perfusion pump heater-cooler units Impella devices intra-aortic balloon pumps and EVH vein harvesting systems
- Monitor and adjust blood flow rates gas exchange anticoagulation levels and patient temperature throughout cardiac surgical procedures
- Assist the surgical team with intraoperative autotransfusion cell salvage and blood product management
- Perform quality assurance checks on all perfusion equipment and maintain accurate procedure records
- Provide standby support for interventional cardiology cases as needed
Perfusionist REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold current certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
- Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
- Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
- Proficiency with cardiac perfusion pump heater-cooler Impella intra-aortic balloon pump and EVH vein harvesting pump
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited perfusion program
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
