Position Summary

Allegheny Millwork is seeking an experienced People Operations Specialist to lead full-cycle recruiting and support key human resources functions across the Allegheny Diversified family of companies. This position combines talent acquisition expertise with core HR responsibilities including onboarding employee relations benefits administration HRIS management policy administration and compliance. The People Operations Specialist will partner closely with leaders across multiple business units to attract hire develop and retain top talent in a variety of roles ranging from skilled trades and manufacturing positions to professional and administrative careers. The ideal candidate is highly organized relationship-focused and thrives in a fast-paced multi-company environment while delivering exceptional employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment across all Allegheny Diversified companies from requisition intake through offer acceptance and onboarding coordination.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs define position requirements and develop targeted recruiting strategies.
  • Source candidates through a variety of channels including job boards social media industry networks trade schools career fairs and employee referral programs.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates for recurring and hard-to-fill positions particularly within skilled trades construction manufacturing and operations.
  • Screen interview and evaluate candidates to ensure alignment with position requirements company culture and long-term organizational goals.
  • Manage and optimize the applicant tracking system (ATS) ensuring accurate candidate records timely communication and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop and promote the employer brand across all Allegheny Diversified companies creating compelling job advertisementssocial media engagement and recruitment marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate and participate in job fairs trade school events networking opportunities open houses and other recruiting events to expand the candidate pipeline.
  • Track analyze and report recruiting metrics including time-to-fill cost-per-hire source effectiveness candidate conversion rates and offer acceptance rates.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives by identifying talent trends and recommending proactive recruitment strategies.

HR Generalist & People Operations

  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding including orientation scheduling new-hire paperwork benefits enrollment coordination and check-ins through the first 90 days.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to policies benefits payroll and general HR matters escalating complex issues to HR leadership as needed.
  • Support administration of employee benefits programs including open enrollment qualifying life-event changes and coordination with insurance and employee education.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS ensuring data and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the administration and communication of company policies the employee handbook and workplace procedures.
  • Support compliance efforts related to I-9 verification FMLA and leave administration workers compensation labor law postings and federal state and local employment regulations.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives recognition programs and company culture events across the Allegheny Diversified companies.
  • Prepare and maintain HR reports and metrics.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

  • Ensure all recruiting and HR activities comply with applicable federal state and local employment laws including EEO ADA FMLA OFCCP and other compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the broader team on workforce planning succession planning employee retention strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance HR processes systems and employee experiences across the Allegheny Diversified family of companies.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned to support organizational growth and strategic business objectives.

Qualifications

  • A combination of education and relevant professional experience in Human Resources Talent Acquisition People Operations or a related field.
  • 35 years of progressive experience in full-cycle recruiting and HR generalist functions preferably within a multi-site multi-company or high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting for a variety of positions including skilled trades manufacturing construction operations professional and administrative roles.
  • Experience supporting HR functions such as onboarding benefits administration employee relations performance management leave administration and HRIS management.
  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) recruiting platforms (e.g. LinkedIn Recruiter Indeed ZipRecruiter) and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations including FMLA ADA FLSA EEO and other compliance requirements affecting recruitment and employee relations.
  • Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with employees candidates managers and business leaders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities open requisitions and competing deadlines.
  • High level of discretion professionalism and judgment when handling confidential employee and candidate information.

Preferred

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Organizational Leadership
  • related field.
  • PHR SHRM-CP or similar HR certification.
  • Experience recruiting and supporting employees in the construction millwork manufacturing or building products industries.
  • Experience with workforce planning and headcount forecasting.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Candidates in the Pittsburgh PA area preferred with periodic travel to company facilities job sites and recruiting events.
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability for career fairs onboarding needs or urgent hiring and HR matters.
  • Ability to travel to company locations career fairs trade schools and recruiting events as needed.
  • Ability to sit stand and work at a computer for extended periods.
