Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Fuel System Supervisor to lead the engineering team responsible for fuel system design integration and validation across the Mustang Bronco Ranger and Explorer/Aviator vehicle lines. This role sits at the intersection of design engineering manufacturing and program management ensuring that fuel delivery systems meet Fords standards for safety durability emissions compliance and customer satisfaction across a diverse portfolio spanning performance vehicles off-road platforms trucks and SUVs.

The successful candidate will supervise a team of design and release engineers coordinate with cross-functional partners (Powertrain Body Exterior Purchasing Manufacturing and Quality) and serve as the technical authority for fuel tank fuel delivery module fuel lines evaporative emissions and refueling system components on these programs.



Responsibilities

In this position...

  • Lead and mentor a team of fuel system design/release engineers supporting Mustang Bronco Ranger and Explorer/Aviator programs
  • Own the technical direction for fuel tanks fuel pumps/modules fuel lines filler pipes EVAP/emissions components and onboard refueling vapor recovery (ORVR) systems
  • Ensure fuel system designs meet FMVSS EPA/CARB evaporative emissions and global regulatory requirements across all four vehicle lines
  • Drive DFMEA DVP&R and validation testing plans; resolve technical issues identified through testing fleet data or field performance
  • Manage supplier relationships and collaborate with Purchasing on sourcing cost targets and quality performance for fuel system components
  • Coordinate with vehicle packaging body structure and powertrain teams to integrate fuel systems within tight platform constraints (e.g. Bronco off-road/skid protection Ranger payload/towing Mustang performance packaging Explorer/Aviator hybrid variants)
  • Support program milestones (design freeze prototype builds launch readiness) by tracking timing budget and quality metrics for the fuel system commodity

What youll do...

  • Lead root cause and corrective action activities for warranty field and plant quality concerns related to fuel systems
  • Ensure compliance with Ford engineering specifications corporate safety standards and lessons-learned processes
  • Present technical reviews and status updates to program leadership and chief engineers
  • Champion continuous improvement cost reduction and weight-saving initiatives within the fuel systems commodity
  • Support cross-carline standardization opportunities to leverage common architectures where feasible


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or related technical field
  • 7 years of automotive engineering experience including direct experience with fuel systems emissions systems or closely related vehicle systems
  • 2 years of supervisory team lead or project lead experience
  • Strong knowledge of FMVSS 301 EPA/CARB evaporative emissions regulations and global fuel system safety standards
  • Experience with DFMEA DVP&R GD&T and CAD tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier technical performance and cross-functional program teams
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in root cause analysis (8D 3x5 Why Ishikawa)

Even better you may have...

  • Masters degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience across truck/SUV (body-on-frame) and unibody platforms
  • Familiarity with hybrid/electrified fuel system architectures
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Knowledge of Fords global product development process (GPDS) or equivalent

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
