Summary
The Energy and Utilities division is seeking a dedicated Payroll Clerk to ensure the accurate and timely disbursement of employee compensation. This position plays a vital role in maintaining financial integrity and regulatory adherence while building trust among staff within our dynamic service-critical industry. The ideal candidate will blend strong analytical skills with operational knowledge to optimize our payroll operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire payroll cycle including the calculation of base wages overtime bonuses and various deductions for a diverse employee base.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll accounts to detect and resolve discrepancies related to hours worked pay rates or tax withholdings.
- Prepare and submit all necessary tax filings and statutory reports ensuring full compliance with federal state and local regulations.
- Collaborate closely with Human Resources and department managers to verify timesheets track leave balances and process personnel changes.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial information and payroll records.
- Generate detailed payroll reports and provide necessary documentation to support internal reviews or external audits.
- Stay informed about changes in labor laws and payroll software to continuously improve operational processes.
Requirements
- Possess 1 to 3 years of practical experience in payroll administration or a similar financial role.
- Demonstrate expertise in payroll processing including a thorough understanding of tax regulations and benefit deductions.
- Show advanced proficiency in payroll management platforms and Microsoft Excel.
- Maintain an exceptional eye for detail with a commitment to accuracy in all financial calculations.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally when responding to payroll inquiries from employees and management.
- Hold a Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (preferred).
