What does this job do specifically
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant Payroll and Benefits Specialist (SAPBS) will support finance operations. The Staff Accountant Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be an integral part of the Finance team. The SAPBS will be responsible for managing key areas such as payroll management healthcare benefits retirement programs bonuses and collaborating with the health insurance broker. Additionally the SAPBS will work on ad-hoc Finance projects ensuring efficient operations and alignment with organizational goals.

- Accurately process payroll to ensure all employees are compensated on time and in compliance with federal state and local regulations.
- Collaborate with HR and finance to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Payroll Data Analysis: Analyze Payroll data and provide insights that drive operational improvement.
- Proper recording of Payroll Journal Entries in SAGE (Proper GL Cost centers and grants)
Healthcare Benefits Management
- Administer and coordinate employee healthcare plans including medical dental vision and flexible spending accounts (FSA) ensuring accurate enrollment and addressing any benefit-related inquiries.
- Analysis of Healthcare plans & Reporting
- Maintain strict compliance with Affordable Care Act (ACA) Requirements including ensuring accurate and timely annual reporting through ADP.
- Work closely with Everstands health insurance broker (PSA) addressing inquiries regarding benefit plans eligibility enrollment and policies.
- Evaluate and implement recommendations or changes to health insurance plans that best meet the organizations needs.
- Follow HIPAA State Regulations and organizational policies regarding data handling and communication.
- Maintain Strict confidentiality in handling sensitive information
- Ensure Timely confidential and professional communication with team members and supervisors.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Previous experience in payroll management benefits administration and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effectively working with team members and external partners.
- Experience using modern payroll and financial software systems.
- Experience with ADP & Sage is a plus.
