Founded in 1955 Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center is a 394-bed acute care nonprofit hospital located. Serving over 80000 patients annually the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center heart care cancer care and womens health. It is the only pediatric trauma center in the San Fernando Valley.

As our Patient Transporter you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.
Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification greet and assist with patient transfers and make conscious observations of patients condition during transport reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.
To be successful in this role you will show a strong commitment to patient safety and provide exceptional customer service to everyone in our facility. You will be attentive observant and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.
- Transports patients as requested by the transport dispatcher or supervisor/lead according to priority.
- Acts as transport dispatcher when assigned communicating instructions to other transporters.
- Demonstrates responsibility for patient safety while in transit.
- Observes standard precautions and uses the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task.
- Maintains accurate records of all patients specimens and medications being transported.
- Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs and gurneys.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
- High School GED General Studies and a minimum of six months of recent work experience in a medical office hospital/ acute care environment upon hire
- Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or oral and written instructions; able to read and write use simple arithmetic keep simple records or use simple office machines upon hire
- AHA Basic Life Support (CPR upon hire
