Job Summary

The Patient Support Supervisor for Bowen Healths Psychiatric Hospital serves as a coach mentor andtrainer for the Patient Support Specialists and Crisis Stabilization Technicians. The position will continuallymonitor staff performance between Hospital and Crisis Receiving teams to identify training needs andoverall competency. The position will ensure that patients are adequately evaluated trained andsupported.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasksmay be performed by every employee in this role all employees are expected to perform related tasks asneeded.   • Lead and manage the Patient Support Technician Team ensuring staff are well-trainedsupported and compliant with all mandatory training requirements.
  • Oversee recruitment hiring and retention strategies to build a high-performing team.
  • Responsible for performance reviews competency reviews time-off approvals disciplinaryactions payroll processes and career development initiatives.
  • Identify and address knowledge deficits and competency needs through individualized and grouptraining.
  • Identify and communicate staffing needs and challenges to supervisor.
  • Develop staff to fill specific roles such as team leader and EDT.
  • Develop competency with staff that ensures thorough and objective patient evaluations.
  • Improve and maintain culture for staff and patient support/care.
  • Ensure patient interactions are adequately documented.
  • Ensure staff complete their duties as assigned.
  • Support the Bowen Health Learning & Development Team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree required.
  • Experience: Prefer two (2) years in a psychiatric hospital setting.
  • Certificate or Professional License:
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) - certification must be obtained after hire and prior toproviding direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept currentthrough employment.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid - certification must be obtained after hire and priorto providing direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept currentthrough employment.
    • SERV Safe Food Manager Certification - required prior to working in the kitchen orassisting with serving meals. Certification must be kept current.
  • Valid drivers license and active auto insurance coverage.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
  • Must be a minimum 21 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occupational Exposure Risk Classification: The normal work routine involves minimal exposure to blood body fluids or tissues.
  • The normal work routine has a minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
  • The position may require a minimal amount of physical exertion (bending lifting twisting) in thework area.
  • The position requires the ability to engage with patients who may become violent and toparticipate in physical patient holds using approved techniques when necessary.
