Do you enjoy helping others working as part of a close-knit team and providing compassionate care during some of lifes most important moments Mercy St. Louis is seeking caring dependable and hardworking Patient Care Associates/Technicians to join our Womens Services and Gynecology team.
As a PCA/PCT youll work alongside experienced nurses and healthcare professionals to provide exceptional care to women and families. Whether supporting patients undergoing gynecologic procedures recovering from surgery or receiving specialized womens health care youll play a vital role in creating a safe comfortable and healing environment.
Under the direction of an RN or LPN you will:
- Assist patients with daily hygiene and personal care needs
- Support ambulation positioning and mobility activities
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with feeding and document intake/output
- Observe and report changes in patient condition
- Participate in patient admissions discharges and transfers
- Perform clerical and communication duties including answering phones and monitoring call lights
- Assist the healthcare team in delivering high-quality patient-centered care
- Help maintain a safe environment through infection prevention and fall prevention practices
Depending on training and competency validation Patient Care Technicians may also perform advanced patient care tasks including specimen collection wound care assistance glucose monitoring IV removal pelvic exam setup visual acuity testing and other specialized duties.

Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- CNA CPCT enrollment in a healthcare career program OR willingness to complete Mercys Patient Care Technician training program
- BLS Certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to stand walk bend lift push and pull up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
No previous healthcare experience required!
Mercy provides a comprehensive training program for candidates entering healthcare for the first time.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT)
- EMT or Paramedic experience
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital clinic long-term care or healthcare setting
