PATIENT CARE AIDE: Full-time 1:30pm-10pm

Valley Hope of Atchison located just northwest of Kansas City has provided residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment services since 1972.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

Valid and unrestricted drivers license.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Preferred:

Associates degree with an emphasis in nursing preferred.
One (1) year of work experience in behavioral or healthcare work environment including direct patient care.
Work experience in substance abuse treatment facility.
Patient Care Technician Certification (PCTC).
Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred

COMPENSATION:

Starting up to $16/hr. (based on education and experience)

Shift Differential

Night: $5.00
Weekend Night: $5.50
Weekend Day: $1.00

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists nursing staff in providing care for patients in accordance with identified treatment plans.
Measures vital signs patients and monitors the health of patients.
Assists patients with everyday needs.
Communicates with nursing supervisors nursing staff and clinical staff regarding patients treatment and status.
Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
Provides support to nursing staff as needed for medical emergencies (i.e. convulsions suicides Delirium Tremens etc.).
Adheres to Valley Hopes medical philosophies policies and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.
Transports patients as needed.
Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.
Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques on patients as directed.
Completes waived testing as assigned.
Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection and HIPPA.
Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable medical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
Adheres to Valley Hopes philosophies policies and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.
Participates in all assigned staff meetings staff development and training as required.
Interacts and communicates with others (patients co-workers management clients and vendors) in a professional and tactful manner including treating them with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
