Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Patient Access Manager Reports To: Corporate President Of Revenue Cycle Management FLSA: Exempt Last Update: 9/25/2024 Job Summary: The Patient Access Manager will oversee the operations of the Patient Access department ensuring efficient and accurate patient registration scheduling and insurance verification. This role involves managing staff developing policies and implementing best practices to enhance the patient experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills excellent problem-solving abilities and a thorough understanding of healthcare regulations. Duties: Manage and supervise the Patient Access team including hiring training and evaluating staff performance. Oversee the registration and scheduling processes ensuring timely and accurate collection of patient information. Ensure compliance with insurance verification procedures addressing any issues with insurance providers or patients. Collaborate with clinical departments to streamline patient flow and improve operational efficiency. Monitor key performance metrics identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for continuous enhancement. Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to patient access operations. Address and resolve patient inquiries and concerns ensuring high levels of customer service. Prepare reports for senior management on patient access activities performance and trends.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in patient access or healthcare administration with at least 2-3 years in a management role. Strong knowledge of insurance verification processes medical terminology and healthcare regulations. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative team environment. Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and patient access software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: May be expected to lift up to 15 - 100 pounds. May be expected to push or pull 50 - 100 pounds with assistance. Work is of light demand; sitting or standing most of the time while on duty. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties. Physical conditions are clean neat and well lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the team. Exposure to limited amounts of radiation hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to department needs OSHA Exposure Classification: Job Category III. Tasks/activities do not entail predictable or unpredictable exposure to blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply.
