POSITION PROFILE

A pastry chefs job description involvespreparing baking and decorating a wide variety of desserts and baked goods like cakes cookies and pastries. Key duties include recipe creation managing inventory maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace and potentially supervising other kitchen staff. Qualifications can range from a high school diploma for entry-level positions to an associate or bachelors degree in pastry arts for more advanced roles along with strong technical skills creativity and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES

• Creation and preparation:Bake a wide variety of goods such as cakes cookies pies pastries and breads following both traditional and new recipes.
• Decoration:Decorate desserts with frostings glazes and toppings to create visually appealing presentations.
• Menu development:Contribute ideas for new dishes and create custom desserts.
• Inventory and ordering:Check and order ingredients and supplies for the pastry section.
• Kitchen management:Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and manage kitchen staff.
• Record-keeping:Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• High school education or equivalent experience. Culinary certificate or degree preferred.
• An associates degree in pastry arts or a certificate from a culinary institution is highly desired.
• Strong baking techniques and the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Creativity in designing unique desserts and new flavor combinations.
• Attention to detail: Meticulous in measuring ingredients and perfecting presentations.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well with other staff.
• Ability to work well under pressure and accept criticism.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to lift push carry 20 - 40 lbs.
• Stand continuously for long periods of time.
• Lift pull push bend and move items to support the hotel and outlets
