The Guardian US is seeking an organized proactive and detail-oriented part-time office coordinatorto support the operations of our Los Angeles office. This individual will play a key role in maintaining a welcoming functional and efficient work environment by assisting with facilities editorial and admin support supplies and event coordination.

Reports to: Senior Manager of Operations Editorial
Location:Los Angeles CA; Hybrid
Terms and conditions:Part-Time; Permanent
Salary range:$30/hr

Key responsibilities include:

Office operations & facilities support

Working closely with editors to ensure the LA office runs smoothly and the editorial team has the support it needs

Liaise with office/building management on facilities-related needs and issues

Maintain office access and safety protocols

Arrange access for new employees guests and visiting staff with building security help them settle when they arrive and help them get in to the building throughout their stay

Coordinate office improvements with NY-based facilities and IT teams including tech setup and troubleshooting

Manage package deliveries and distribution

Handle mail deliveries and distribution

Make sure the team has supplies office gets cleaned in order

Coordinate with NY office in ordering and distributing PPE and other essential gear and supplies for the team

Work with NY on an earthquake and emergency plan (both for LA and Oakland staff)

Administrative & editorial support

Build and maintain rotas (schedules) for staff and freelance reporters communicating plans and changes with the team troubleshooting issues with editors

Assist with general administrative office duties

Assist west coast editors with special events logistics complicated meetings team drinks or social events for visitors

Organize external guests for team lunch meetings


Skills & experience:

Highly organized and reliable with strong attention to detail

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable with basic tech troubleshooting (printers conference screens etc)

Admin experience in media or newsroom environments a plus

Self-starter with a proactive problem-solving approach
