What Were Looking For
Ferrum College is seeking a compassionate relational and student-centered Part-Time Assistant Chaplain to support the Office of Spiritual Life and provide consistent pastoral and spiritual presence within the Ferrum community.
The Assistant Chaplain will work closely with the College Chaplain to engage students support worship and discipleship opportunities mentor student leaders provide pastoral care and follow-up and strengthen relationships with campus and community ministry partners.
This position is designed to provide meaningful and consistent student-facing ministry particularly during evenings and student-centered activities.

You are a compassionate and approachable spiritual leader who enjoys building authentic relationships with college students. You understand that effective campus ministry begins with presence trust listening and meaningful connection.
You are comfortable engaging students in both formal and informal settings and are passionate about helping students grow in faith leadership character purpose and service. You are collaborative dependable and able to work effectively with students faculty staff churches community ministries and other College partners.
You recognize the importance of supporting the whole student and understand when to provide pastoral care and when to connect students with appropriate professional College resources.

- Provide consistent pastoral and spiritual presence to students throughout the campus community.
- Build meaningful relationships with students through worship Bible studies student activities athletic events meals and informal campus interactions.
- Participate regularly in worship services discipleship gatherings prayer opportunities and other Spiritual Life programs.
- Provide pastoral support to students experiencing personal family spiritual interpersonal or other significant life circumstances.
- Follow up with students after pastoral conversations and referrals and connect students with appropriate College resources when additional support is needed.
- Mentor and support student spiritual leaders involved in worship teams Bible studies discipleship groups campus ministries student organizations and other Spiritual Life initiatives.
- Assist with the development and coordination of worship discipleship and spiritual-life programs.
- Support Christian leadership development and student-led ministry initiatives.
- Attend student activities and athletic events to provide additional pastoral presence and opportunities for relationship building.
- Assist with coordination and communication among students College offices churches ministry representatives volunteers and community partners.
- Support relationships with local churches and external ministry organizations including The Heights Fellowship of Christian Athletes Young Life Catholic campus ministry and other ministry partners.
- Assist the College Chaplain with planning program development communications and follow-up activities.
- Represent the Office of Spiritual Life at appropriate campus events ceremonies and special programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the College Chaplain.

Qualifications
- Education: Masters degree in a liberal arts field with preference toward ministry theology or religious studies
- Ecclesiastical Endorsement: Ordination in a mainstream Christian denomination
- Work Experience: 6 years experienceproviding pastoral care in the context of youth ministry (including parachurch ministry)
- Ability to work approximately 12 hours per week with a schedule that includes predictable periods of campus presence.
- Availability for evening and student-centered activities as needed.
- Ability to attend worship discipleship pastoral-care and student-life activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and community ministry partners.
- Commitment to supporting an environment that respects and welcomes students from diverse faith traditions.
