• Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting
• Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material of skills.
• Guides independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Check notebooks corrects papers and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with such large group activities as reading aloud storytelling etc.
• Alerts the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student. Communicates with classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of the information about students as is expectedof a fully licensed teacher.

REPORTS TO:Principal and Classroom Teacher

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• As negotiated with Lynn School Committee andLynn Teachers Union/Paraprofessionals Unit.
• 180 days per year

Paraprofessionalsstarting salary is $21.89 per hour.

Additional credits will be adjusted pending verification of additional college credits.
