Paralegal
Job Summary
- Requesting and coordinating for information from various parties which require discretion and independent judgment in the application of specialized knowledge of laws precedent decisions regulations agency policies and judicial or administrative proceedings.
- Assisting with preparation for hearings including the preparation and organization of pleadings exhibits witnesses and other related matters.
- Attending hearings dispositions or court appearances to become informed on administrative and/or court procedures and the status of cases and assisting with the preparation of written reports concerning observations.
- Researching analyzing and summarizing legal precedents preparing legal digests processing debt collection claims referred by client agencies and making decisions regarding debt compromise write-offs and referrals back to originating agencies.
- Tracking case progress ensuring legal pleadings reports correspondence and other documentation are completed and submitted within established deadlines.
- Paralegal Certificate or Associates Degree or an equivalent level of legal experience.
- Valid United States drivers license and reliable transportation as well as being able to pass a security clearance background check.
- Multiple years of Paralegal experience to include administrative tasks drafting etc.
- Accounting background and experience using online legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis (preferred).
