Job Summary
General Duties:The PAL program provided Peer supports to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness to become as independent and connected to the community as Functions: PAL Interns will learn all duties of PAL peer advocates and will take on those duties such as:Advocacy and how to access community-based Functions: Describe the intrinsic job duties that define the core responsibilities of the advocacy support and bridging services with a focus on wellness and resiliency to participants with mental illness to help improve their quality of individuals to become more hopeful about their advocacy on behalf of the program participants in line with the choices of the individual being the types of services and programs available to participants as it relates to their stated goals or as facilitators of self-help groups and wellness services to assist participants address their whole health needs develop coping strategies and connect with critical resources such as housing education and services provided as required by program and regulatory agenciesHelp remove stigma and barriers associated with moving on to more independent rolesAn important function of peer support is to reduce the possible stigma and personal effects of having a diagnosis of mental illness by sharing their own participants about self-help techniques and self-help group processesPAL interns will be required to comply with all departmental policies procedures and parametersIntern(s) will have weekly supervision with the program & Basic RequirementsWillingness to travel to multiple boroughs a must (Bronx and Queens primarily)
