Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned.

1. Paint stain enamel orother finishes toequipment interior or exterior of ships marina buildings or other structures using brushes spray guns or rollers.
2. Prepare wood fiberglass and metal surfaces for painting by removing old finishes grease rust scale and dirt by stripping sanding wire brushing burning or using water or abrasive blasting.
3. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
4. Smooth surfaces using sandpaper scrapers brushes steel wool or sanding machines.
5. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats per specifications.
6. Cut stencils and brush or spray lettering on surfaces.
7. Fill cracks holes or joints with caulk putty plasterwoodor other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
8. Wash and treat surfaces with oil turpentine mildew remover or other preparations and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
9. May berequiredto remove fixtures suchdoorknobs lamps or electric switch covers prior to painting.

Required Education & Experience:

1. High School Diploma and/or one year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
2. Industrial and/or marine painting experience preferred:

• 1st Class:Minimum of3years
• 2nd Class:Minimum of1-3 years

Working Conditions:

1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
2. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.
3. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
4. Aboard ships both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.
5. Must be able to stand andoperateequipmentup to four continuous hours.
6. The work requiresextended periodsof sitting in awkward positions standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles bending overcrouchingand climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding ladders and internal barge and boat structural members.

Necessary Equipment Operation:

1. Mill gauges both dry and wet.
2. Profile gauge both compare andmicro gauge.
3. Spray guns; HVLP electrostatic andaluminizer.
4. Distilling unit.

Special Skills:

1. Willingto learn and become familiar with air permit regulations.
2. Perform basic mathematical functions.
3. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
