Packing & Shipping Specialistsare responsible for carefully wrapping and packaging outgoing products to prevent damage to the manufactured product during storage and transportation. Specialists are responsible for selecting appropriate packaging materials to protect product integrity and for optimizing the size and weight of the shipped item(s) in consideration of the transportation method applicable export regulations and customer and carrier FunctionsTo accomplish this job an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Ensures shipping documents are accurate and complete and that all packages are adequately accuracy of orders and maintains accurate records of shipments; compares identifying information and counts weighs and measures items to verify against bills of lading customer orders or other recordsMay receive unwrap inspect and store incoming materials; responsible for accurately recording counts weights condition and storage locations for received itemsUtilizes forklift pallet jacks dolly and other material handling equipment to transport materials; may operate overhead or jib crane; may use forklift to load and/or unload goods on trucks (Forklift certification upon employment is required)Completes appropriate paperwork in compliance with internal processes and quality proceduresMaintains a clean and organized safe work areaVerifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriateFollows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work productComplies with applicable manufacturing processes work procedures and supervisor instructionsAdheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safetyMay be required to drive company vehicles for receiving and/or delivering parts; expected to obey all city state and federal traffic and transport regulationsPerforms other duties as assignedRegular attendance on-site at the work site is requiredRequired Education and Work ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED equivalent is requiredMinimum of 6 months experience in a warehouse role performing stocking order picking and/or packaging is requiredForklift experience with satisfactory record of safe operation is preferredExperience with export compliance and hazardous materials shipping is preferredOther Required Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read and accurately interpret a pick ticket and verify counts with 100% accuracyAttention to detail and demonstration of accurate counting measurement and associated recordkeepingAbility to accurately read and record measurements within a 1/4 inch incrementProfessional written and verbal communication skills (English)Consistently legible handwriting (English)Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentTo perform the essential functions of the role employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility stand for long periods to perform job dutiesRegularly lift carry (short distances) and push/pull up to 50 poundsFrequently climb steps stairs or laddersFrequently bend crawl stoop squat or kneelAccurately distinguish colors letters and numbersVisual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devicesUse hands and fingers to manually inspect and assess lift rotate and wrap or otherwise package partsVisual ability to gauge distances recognize and avoid obstacles to safely operate forklifts pallet jacks and other material handling equipmentWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee may be exposed to:Moderate noise (generally)Excessive noise hearing protection required (occasionally)Dust smoke fumes/vapors (occasionally)Extreme temperatures (occasionally)Sharp instruments including box cutters scissors and other tools used in packaging/shippingHazardous equipment including forklifts hand tools cranes or other lifting devices and other equipment used in a machine shop environmentThe use of PPE including hearing protection eye and hand protection and use of safety footwear may be required
