Reports to: Production Supervisor

Pay:$22.25/hr.

The Packaging Line Equipment Operator is responsible for operating monitoring and maintaining packaging machinery on the production line in a food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor packing line equipment such as straw applicators shrink wrappers case sealer palletizers and bar & date coding machines.
  • Ensure all supplies (straws glue etc.) are stocked and refilled for production.
  • Manually load trays of finished products on pallets prepare stock for palletizing procedure.
  • Check conveyors prior to production to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Inspect operating equipment to identify and resolve obstructions to resume operations.
  • Alert mechanic if equipment malfunctions and work with them to correct problem.
  • Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and sanitary condition by following proper cleaning procedures.
  • Perform work in safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out accurately start-up and cleaning checklist downtime sheets and quality check sheets.
  • Compliance with the Companys Integrated Management Systems which includes but is not limited to Production Quality Food Safety & GMP.
  • Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety occupational safety environmental safety food safety legal regulations company requirements etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and do light lifting (up to 30 lbs)
  • Ability to learn multiple pieces of operating equipment and basic trouble-shooting techniques
  • Ability to work with and communicate well with others (ability to read write and speak clearly in English)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as a machine operator in a food manufacturing or product manufacturing
  • Good knowledge of HACCP is an asset (training will be provided otherwise)
