About MF Professional Services Inc.

MF Professional Services Inc. (MFPS) is an employee leasing and professional services organization that provides human resources payroll benefits administration and operational support services to mission-driven organizations.

This position supports MFPS clients including Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Acción (MFA). Employees of MFPS may perform services on behalf of MFPS clients in support of their operational programmatic and organizational goals.

About Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción

Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción are national Latino-led civic engagement organizations dedicated to building political power strengthening civic engagement and advancing policies that support Latino communities.

MFA a 501(c)(3) organization conducts nonpartisan programs focused on citizenship voter registration voter education leadership development and issues including immigration education healthcare voting rights workers rights reproductive rights and the environment.

MFV a 501(c)(4) organization builds Latino political power through advocacy organizing and mobilization to help ensure that Latino voices shape the policies affecting their health safety and prosperity.

Together MFV and MFA operate one of the largest Latino civic engagement infrastructures in the country with programs across Arizona California Colorado Florida Georgia Nevada North Carolina Texas and Washington D.C.

Position Summary

The Organizer supports the work of MFPS and its clients including Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción by building community power and advancing racial equity economic justice civic engagement and other organizational priorities.

This position focuses on base-building grassroots organizing leadership development political education and campaign implementation. The Organizer works directly with community members particularly low-income and working-class families and communities of color to develop leaders strengthen member-led organizing efforts and mobilize collective action.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-centered organizer with experience in grassroots organizing or community leadership development. This individual understands the lived experiences and organizing conditions within Latino and other historically marginalized communities and is committed to helping community members grow as leaders and advocates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The employee will perform the essential duties described below in support of MFPS and its clients including Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción as assigned by MFPS-authorized management.

  • Conduct direct community outreach through one-on-one meetings phone banking follow-up communications community events and other organizing activities.
  • Recruit develop engage and retain community members and volunteer leaders through consistent relationship-building.
  • Train mentor and support community leaders in developing their organizing advocacy and civic engagement skills.
  • Identify track develop and evaluate members and leaders throughout the leadership-development process.
  • Support the development of organizing plans and campaign strategies.
  • Assist with the implementation monitoring and evaluation of organizing campaigns.
  • Support education civic engagement electoral justice and other issue-based campaigns.
  • Plan and facilitate political education sessions leadership-development activities and skills-building workshops.
  • Coordinate and support community participation in actions mobilizations public meetings and community events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations coalitions partners and other stakeholders.
  • Represent MFPS and its clients professionally in alliance-building coalition and community activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation databases and records concerning members leaders volunteers alumni outreach and campaign activities.
  • Collaborate with organizing communications program and other internal teams to advance campaign and organizational goals.
  • Participate in organization-wide initiatives including electoral campaigns fundraising activities and special projects as assigned and consistent with applicable legal and organizational requirements.
  • Attend morning evening and weekend meetings events and activities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education

A specific degree is not required. Relevant education training lived experience and professional or volunteer experience will be considered.

Experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing preferably within a membership-based organization or working with low-income communities; or an equivalent combination of community organizing leadership development advocacy direct service and relevant volunteer experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting community leadership development as an employee or in a highly responsible volunteer position.
  • Experience working in nonprofit advocacy political community engagement or other mission-driven organizations preferred.

  • Ability to accurately enter organize maintain and protect member and community information.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems Microsoft Office Google Workspace and applicable organizing or database platforms or the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated accountable and results-oriented with the ability to establish and achieve measurable goals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to work mornings evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned service area and to other locations as needed.
Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work at a computer and operate standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively with community members colleagues partners and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to move throughout office event field and community locations.
  • Ability to perform community outreach and participate in canvassing meetings trainings mobilizations and public events.
  • Ability to travel by automobile or commercial transportation as applicable.
Work Environment

This position operates in office remote field and community-based environments depending on business and programmatic needs.

The Organizer may be required to travel throughout the assigned service area and attend meetings trainings conferences community activities campaign events and mobilizations in support of MFPS and its clients. Morning evening weekend or extended hours may be required based on campaign event and operational needs.

Field activities may occur indoors or outdoors and may involve varying weather conditions noise levels crowds and travel between multiple locations.

Employees working remotely must comply with applicable MFPS and client operational confidentiality information-security and technology requirements. Any proposed change to an employees approved remote work location or work arrangement must be communicated to and approved by Human Resources in advance.
