We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our Occupational Health and Employee Wellness team. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive vision and eye care services to employees helping identify and manage visual conditions that may affect their health safety and ability to perform their work effectively.

Job Summary

The Optometrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations diagnosing and managing common vision and eye health conditions prescribing corrective lenses and educating employees on proper eye care and injury prevention.

The successful candidate will collaborate with occupational health professionals physicians safety teams and other healthcare providers to promote employee eye health and reduce the risk of workplace-related eye injuries. This position may also provide recommendations regarding protective eyewear and visual requirements for employees working with agricultural equipment machinery chemicals dust and other environmental hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye and vision examinations for employees.

  • Evaluate visual acuity depth perception color vision peripheral vision and other aspects of visual function.

  • Diagnose and manage common vision problems including myopia hyperopia astigmatism and presbyopia.

  • Identify signs of eye diseases and conditions and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when appropriate.

  • Prescribe eyeglasses contact lenses and other vision correction solutions based on individual patient needs.

  • Perform routine eye health assessments and monitor changes in patients vision over time.

  • Evaluate employees experiencing eye strain irritation minor eye injuries or other work-related visual concerns.

  • Provide appropriate treatment recommendations and follow-up care within the scope of optometric practice.

  • Educate employees on proper eye health vision care contact lens use and preventive practices.

  • Provide recommendations on protective eyewear and workplace eye safety for employees working in agricultural and production environments.

  • Collaborate with occupational health and safety teams to identify potential workplace hazards affecting employee eye health.

  • Participate in employee wellness initiatives vision screening programs and workplace eye safety education.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records examination results prescriptions treatment plans and follow-up documentation.

  • Follow applicable healthcare regulations infection-control procedures patient confidentiality requirements and professional ethical standards.

  • Stay current with advances in optometry diagnostic technology vision correction and occupational eye health.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school or college of optometry.

  • Current and unrestricted state license to practice optometry.

  • Minimum of 23 years of clinical experience as an Optometrist preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of comprehensive eye examinations vision assessment and corrective lens prescribing.

  • Knowledge of common ocular diseases and vision-related conditions.

  • Experience with modern optometric diagnostic equipment and technologies.

  • Excellent communication interpersonal and patient education skills.

  • Strong clinical judgment analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare and occupational health teams.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in occupational health industrial healthcare employee wellness or community health settings.

  • Knowledge of occupational eye safety and protective eyewear requirements.

  • Experience evaluating and managing minor workplace-related eye injuries.

  • Familiarity with eye health risks associated with dust chemicals UV exposure machinery and outdoor work environments.

  • Experience conducting employee vision screenings and workplace wellness programs.

  • Familiarity with agricultural or industrial work environments is a plus.

Working Conditions

The Optometrist will primarily work in a clean well-lit clinical or occupational health setting located at Company Headquarters or Production Facility. The position may occasionally require visits to agricultural fields processing plants or other company facilities to evaluate workplace eye safety requirements.

Some employees may work in environments involving dust sunlight agricultural chemicals machinery and other potential eye hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided when visiting these environments.

Occasional travel between company locations and flexible working hours may be required.
