Operations Specialist, Transportation

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED
2. Possess and maintain a clear and valid Texas commercial drivers license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred
3. One (1) years experience as a school bus driver or as a transportation professional preferred
4. One (1) years experience routing in public schools preferred
5. One (1) years technical experience preferred
6. Ability to communicate with diverse internal and external publics in both verbal and written formats
7. Proficient in the use of personal computer Microsoft Office applications e-mail internet and departmental specific applications etc.
8. Ability to learn and efficiently utilize transportation services software and hardware
9. Ability to read and understand documents including District policies and department guidelines
10. Possess the ability to work under pressure and regularly meet deadlines
11. Possess excellent customer service skills
12. Competent in data management record management and general office procedures
13. Ability to speak read and understand the English language
14. Ability to safely operate a school bus

244 days

SALARY/PAY GRADE:

$48178 CP-8

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop and maintain the routing plan for regular education special needs and special program responsibilities including McKinney-Vento and Foster student programs to ensure safe timely and efficient runs/routes in accordance with the Texas Education Agency and CFISD policies and department procedures
2. Investigate internal route concerns including direct observation of concern and electronic review of pertinent data
3. Develop and oversee regular and consistent student assignments to routes and reports to campuses maintaining stop pool stops assigning and routing employee student shuttles health notations on routes
4. Support field trip operations as needed including the billing process
5. Access and utilize printed/electronic user manual for installed equipment/printers
6. Maintain accurate updated records of equipment inventory and customer support calls
7. Communicate route plans and modifications to the transportation personnel and school personnel through approved transportation software
8. Communicate and collaborate with transportation personnel and school personnel to ensure appropriate routes are created to accommodate special needs student behaviors and their related equipment needs
9. Maintain and support installed equipment and software as well as campus needs
10. Troubleshoot driver/student ID card issues
11. Create and maintain and student information system access for all drivers and campus users
12. Answer and routing telephone calls
13. Assist in the production of requested reports such as on-time performance scan reports etc.
14. Research and communicate issues and resolutions with school personnel
15. Assist with the execution of state counts state routes and the compilation of data for Texas Education Agency reporting
16. Compile maintain and file all physical and electronic reports records and other documents required
17. Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed
18. Maintain a clean and orderly workstation
19. Maintain confidentiality of information
20. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
21. Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain emotional control under stress continual sitting and repetitive hand and arm motions.

Must be able to get on and off a school bus and drive a school bus.

Occasional exposure to noise extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
