Job Summary
MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to support the daily operation maintenance and repair of a commercial facility. This is a hands-on handyman-style facilities position requiring a well-rounded maintenance background with the ability to perform routine service and repairs on HVAC equipment and other building systems.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently troubleshooting facility issues completing preventative maintenance and responding to general maintenance needs throughout the building.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on commercial building systems and equipment.
- Perform hands-on maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC equipment and associated mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC-related issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Complete general facility repairs including plumbing electrical carpentry doors fixtures hardware and other routine building maintenance.
- Inspect building systems and equipment to identify maintenance needs before equipment failures occur.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems pumps motors electrical equipment plumbing systems and other facility infrastructure.
- Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow established preventative maintenance schedules and document completed work.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following proper safety procedures lockout/tagout practices and PPE requirements.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate risks.
- Coordinate with vendors or outside contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain clean and organized mechanical rooms maintenance areas and workspaces.
- Utilize computers and maintenance software to document work orders maintenance activities and equipment information.
- Perform additional facility maintenance duties as needed.
- 57 years of skilled trades facilities maintenance or building engineering experience.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Hands-on experience working with commercial HVAC equipment.
- Working knowledge of commercial mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform appropriate repairs.
- General handyman and building maintenance skills.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools power tools meters and maintenance equipment.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend kneel squat stand climb reach and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Two years of trade school or technical education in HVAC refrigeration electrical or a related field.
- EL07 or Journeyman License.
- Experience working in a commercial facilities or building engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using a CMMS or electronic work-order system.
