Job Summary
What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Do:
Provides assistanceas necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting organizinganticipatingand passing surgical instruments medical supplies equipment and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures including surgical attire surgical hand scrub surgical gowning of self and team surgical gloving of self and team boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas and traffic patterns.
Identifiesbreaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination tray assembly sterilization documentation and problem resolution for parameter failure.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Need:
Education
- Required: Graduate of an Associate Degree Program for Surgical Technology or Certification Program forSurgical Technology.
Credentials/Licensure
- Preferred Certification: For the Associate Degree Program and Certification Programs; it should be completedwithin twelve (12) months of hire. Previous job training for surgical tech position will be acceptable with aCertification of Surgical Technology. The certification must have been maintained since receiving it.
- BLS required ACLS preferred.
Related Experience
- Must have at least one (1) year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience and preferred one (1) year ofCardiovascular Services experience or open-heart surgery experience. Must be able to take required call for theopen-heart team
What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will work:
36 hours per pay period
2 x 8 hrs shifts 2 x 10 hr shifts variable day shift hours
Weekends and holidays to be scheduledin accordance withCBA.
