The Director of Program Effectiveness will expand the operation of a unit composed of Education Program Specialists and administrative personnel devoted to the English Language Development (ELD) of Arizonas English learners (ELs) the implementation of Arizonas English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and the approved Research-Based Structured English Immersion (SEI) Models and monitoring of program effectiveness.
Frequent in-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.
| Job Duties: |
Develop and implement a program effectiveness and compliance plan and systems for the OELAS department. Implementation to include all necessary stakeholders on the 2019 ELP Standards and Research-Based SEI Models to include a timeline responsible parties structure and processes. Collaborate with other unit Directors Deputy Associate Superintendent (DAS) and Program Leaders.
Direct staff to ensure that information gained through program support and monitoring assists in guiding program decision-making and implementation technical assistance and effective professional development for teachers and administrators.
Serve as team leader at public venues and conferences. Leads the Program Effectiveness Team. Meets with staff on a regular basis reporting back to the DAS.
Direct staff in the compilation/production/dissemination of reports on EL programs. Require ELD/SEI guidance and design/develop/implement a specific plan for both.
Lead OELAS staff in planning and facilitating professional development to support LEAs in the implementation of Arizonas approved SEI Models and Arizonas ELP Standards to include alignment to academic standards with a focus on the ELA Standards and ensure adherence to state and federal laws regarding instruction for ELs. This includes but is not limited to professional development efforts between the OELAS Unit and Academic Standards Division.
Develop Website content and updates in collaboration with other unit Directors.
Develop and implement summer school program for English language learners to support reclassification efforts on an annual basis.

Applicants must have taught or administered at EL program or related field.
A bachelors degree in education or a related field.
Applicants must have supervisory experience.
A Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement or a Bilingual (BLE) endorsement is required.

Preference will be given to those applicants with masters degree preferred in Educational Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction (or similar)
