Job Summary
Endoscopy Clinical Nurse ManagerFull-time 40-hour position Monday through Friday.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of Endoscopy RN experience and/or Nursing leadership experience.
Massachusetts General Hospital Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department
The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is responsible for the clinical operational financial and administrative leadership of the Massachusetts General Hospital Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department including Blake 4 Endoscopy Pediatric Endoscopy and the Charles River Plaza (CRP) Endoscopy Center.
The CNM promotes the highest standards of patient- and family-centered care while fostering a culture of safety quality collaboration innovation and professional excellence. Working in partnership with the Nurse Director Nurse Practice Specialist physicians Advanced Practice Providers and interdisciplinary teams the CNM ensures exceptional clinical outcomes operational efficiency staff engagement regulatory compliance and alignment with the mission vision and values of Massachusetts General Hospital and Mass General Brigham.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership
Provides visible effective leadership for the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department fostering a culture of excellence accountability collaboration and patient- and family-centered care.
Partners with the Nurse Director Nurse Practice Specialist physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to achieve departmental organizational and strategic goals.
Promotes a professional practice environment grounded in Magnet nursing principles High Reliability Organization (HRO) practices evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement.
Leads change initiatives operational improvements and practice innovations that enhance patient outcomes operational performance and staff engagement.
Creates and sustains a culture of psychological safety inclusiveness transparency and mutual respect throughout the department.
Represents the department on organizational committees councils and interdisciplinary initiatives.
Staff Management
Provides direct supervision coaching mentoring and performance management for Registered Nurses Certified Surgical Technologists Patient Care Associates Operating Room Assistants and support staff.
Oversees recruitment interviewing hiring onboarding orientation retention and succession planning activities.
Conducts annual performance evaluations competency assessments and ongoing performance coaching.
Addresses employee relations and performance concerns in collaboration with Human Resources and Nursing Leadership.
Promotes staff engagement recognition shared governance and professional accountability.
Identifies and develops future leaders through mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Collaboration
Collaborates closely with the Nurse Director and Nurse Practice Specialist to advance professional nursing practice staff competency quality initiatives and strategic priorities.
Partners with physicians Advanced Practice Providers anesthesia professionals and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe coordinated and efficient patient care.
Establishes strong working relationships with Pharmacy Sterile Processing Infection Prevention Quality Supply Chain Radiology Environmental Services and other operational partners.
Facilitates interdisciplinary problem-solving and promotes teamwork across all clinical and operational areas.
Operational Excellence
Oversees daily operations of the Endoscopy Department ensuring efficient patient flow procedural throughput and optimal resource utilization.
Coordinates staffing scheduling room assignments capacity management and workflow optimization.
Monitors productivity patient access operational metrics and departmental performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
Collaborates with procedural teams to maximize efficiency while maintaining patient safety and quality care.
Participates in budget planning and financial stewardship activities to ensure responsible use of human material and fiscal resources.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality
Ensures compliance with hospital policies professional standards accreditation requirements and regulatory agencies including The Joint Commission CMS OSHA and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Maintains continuous survey readiness and supports regulatory inspections and audits.
Promotes patient safety initiatives infection prevention practices and risk reduction strategies.
Monitors documentation practices to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance with professional and regulatory requirements.
Uses quality metrics patient experience data and safety reports to identify opportunities for improvement and drive performance outcomes.
Professional Practice
Supports and advances the MGH Professional Practice Model Magnet principles and evidence-based nursing care.
Promotes a culture of clinical excellence ethical practice accountability and lifelong learning.
Leads and supports evidence-based practice quality improvement research and innovation initiatives.
Ensures delivery of safe equitable culturally sensitive and patient-centered care across the lifespan.
Communication
Maintains open transparent and timely communication with staff providers leadership patients and families.
Communicates significant clinical operational quality and personnel issues to departmental and nursing leadership.
Facilitates staff meetings leadership communications and interdisciplinary discussions.
Promotes effective conflict resolution and collaboration among team members and departments.
Professional Development
Collaborates with the Nurse Practice Specialist and leadership team to ensure staff maintain competency in foundational and advanced endoscopy practice.
Oversees orientation onboarding competency validation and annual education requirements.
Supports specialty certification continuing education clinical ladder participation and leadership development.
Promotes participation in professional organizations evidence-based practice initiatives research activities and scholarly dissemination.
Provides mentorship and support for preceptors charge nurses and emerging leaders.
