CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington Dickinson Devils Lake Garrison Turtle Lake Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin Linton and Wishek as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services including: a Level II Trauma Center primary and specialty physician clinics home health and hospice services durable medical equipment services a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

2027 Nursing Intern

As our 2027 Nursing Intern you will help our patients receive high-quality compassionate care so they can achieve optimal health outcomes. Throughout this 240-hour internship you will assist in the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of individual patient care in the nursing unit. You will be expected to support the delivery of care according to policies procedures and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role you must be skilled in delivering comprehensive patient care while adhering to established standards.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to our mission values and Journey Beyond Excellence expectations to foster a compassionate healing environment providing physiological emotional psychological and spiritual support to patients families and visitors.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to policies philosophies and standards of care regulated by the ND State Board of Nursing the ND nurse practice act and other governing agency regulations.
• Utilize the nursing process including planning assessment intervention and evaluation to assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan of care for the patient and family focused on optimal patient outcomes.
• Meet the educational needs of patients families and co-workers utilizing principles and current professional literature to achieve positive learning outcomes.
• Support the delegation of nursing care with respect based on knowledge of staff qualifications competencies and individual patient care needs.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of 5th semester of accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program by May 2027.
• Commitment to complete 240 internship hours.
• Working knowledge of clinical skills in the delivery of patient care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or must be obtained within the orientation period).
• Good communication skills necessary for constant communication both oral and written with patients families visitors and medical center staff.
• Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff between other disciplines departments families visitors and patients.
• Maintains confidentiality.
