Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEWThe Nurse Program Manager for Radiation Oncology Research provides leadership in the design implementation and evaluation of radiation oncology research and services primarily in Brigham and Womens radiation oncology network locations with support across the MGB Radiation Oncology enterprise as requested. The Nurse Program Manager will function as a key facilitator for the radiation oncologists in the growth and development of the clinical research program for all BWH/DFBCC Network Radiation Oncology departments.
Responsibilities include providing nursing input into the writing and review process of clinical protocols for active treatment and retrospective review collaborating with study teams and training of network research staff.
The Nurse Program Manager serves as a primary liaison to the Longwood Radiation Oncology Center (LROC) Radiation Oncology department in Boston MGBCI Research leadership the DFCI Network Lead Academic Participating Sites (NLAPS) office and to the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center/ Dana-Farber/Partners Cancer Care (DFPCC/DFHCC) Network Research Manager.
The Nurse Program Manager reports to the Radiation Oncology Nurse Director ensuring consistency among Radiation Oncology sites. The Nurse Program Manager works closely with the Clinical Research Supervisor Clinical Research Nurses and Data Managers in the Boston & Network Radiation Oncology Departments.
Work site locations include Boston as well as Milford Mansfield and Weymouth.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and manages Radiation Oncology Network Research program as directed by the Vice Chair of Research Radiation Oncology
Works closely with MDs RNs and clinical staff to identify and support research needs
oProvides input on resource acquisition and feasibility of new clinical trials
oProvides nursing and clinical expertise to investigators
oDevelops data bases provides progress reports
oUtilization of existing databases (i.e. PROMPTs)
oCollaborates with national research groups (i.e. RTOG CALGB)
oCollaborates with other research protocol sponsors
Educate investigators nurses and clinical staff re protocols procedures requirements and regulations and ensures they are followed (CITI training etc.)
Monitors adherence to OHRS policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
Collaborates with Vice Chare of Research to develop and implement appropriate quality control guidelines to ensure all study conduct activities confirm to institutional regulatory standards Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and national cooperative group standards
Provides clinical support for patients enrolling on protocols open in Radiation Oncology Network locations including patient identification study requirements protocol education and coordination with medical team members
Collaborate with study teams to identify and mitigate potential barriers to ensure study data is captured and analyzed in a timely and effective manner and enrollment targets are being met
Provides in-service education and serves as a resource to the health care team
Collaborates with Vice Chair to determine need for additional research staff (Data Managers RN)
Responsible for recruiting hiring orienting and supervising research staff for the network.
Develops systems to ensure optimal communication between all relevant research entities
Leads Network Research Committee and staff meetings
Serves as the liaison to the BWH Radiation Oncology department in Boston works closely with BWH Clinical Research Supervisor and departmental research nurses and data managers
Serves as the liaison to the DFCI NLAPS office and to the DFPCC/DFHCC Network Research Manager
Serves as Network Radiation Oncology liaison to the DFHCC/DFPCC Network Research Office Office for Human Studies Research and Institutional Review Board
Maintains a high degree of awareness of the current scientific state and advancements in relation to the DFCI/HCC Network Radiation Oncology Research program
oAttends relevant symposia scientific meetings training sessions workshops and journal review
Participates in teleconferences and meetings regarding operation issues study metrics enrollment and deliverables for all DFHCC Network Radiation Oncology Research sites
Develops project status reports and communicates with teams and funding partners as needed on behalf of the Network radiation oncologists

Essential Functions
-Lead the development and implementation of clinical programs or services ensuring alignment with the hospitals mission and strategic objectives.
-Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff within the program.
-Ensure adherence to clinical protocols standards and regulatory requirements.
-Supervise and mentor nursing staff including registered nurses licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants.
-Collaborate with healthcare professionals from various disciplines including physicians social workers and therapists to provide comprehensive care within the program.
-Develop and implement patient and family education programs within the clinical program.
-Ensure that nursing practices within the clinical program comply with all relevant healthcare regulations accreditation standards and hospital policies.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse required.
2. Degree requirements: MSN (or) MS with a major in Nursing (or) DNP (or) PhD with a major in Nursing (or) a BSN with a Masters degree in a related field required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree No.
3. Two to five years of experience in Oncology clinical research or Radiation Oncology required.
4. One year of leadership experience required.
5. Radiation oncology experience highly preferred.
6. OCN certification preferred.
