Position Title: NMSD Daycare Aide
Reports to: NMSD Daycare Director
Primary Service Area: Santa Fe campus
Employment Term: (184 days/non-exempt)
Salary/Wage Range: Without BA: $19.90-$25.24 hourly with BA: $21.32-$26.51 hourly
New hires are offered up to mid-range dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Summary
A dedicated and caring Daycare Aide supports the daily operation of the childcare program by assisting teachers with supervision instruction and care of young children in a safe nurturing and engaging environment. This position promotes childrens social emotional physical and cognitive development while maintaining a clean organized and supportive classroom environment. The aide works collaboratively with staff and families to ensure the well-being and positive growth of all children.
It is anticipated and expected that all functions of this position will be performed in a positive and respectful manner with a strong focus on advancing the mission and vision of New Mexico School for the Deaf. The duties and competencies listed are comprehensive yet not all-inclusive of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
- Assist the lead teacher with ensuring the cleanliness and safe environment of the classroom is appropriately maintained
- Assists with daycare paperwork: for example daily notes student accident reports and attendance reports.
- Assists and supervises children during your shift.
- Assists with nap duties.
- Assists with diaper changes.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings events and parent meetings as requested.
- Assists with plans program and schedule.
- Assists with materials for activities.
- Assists children with meal times which may include feeding and clean-up.
- Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment is in good working condition and is used and maintained properly.
- Assists with the family information board and other classroom bulletin boards.
Position-Specific Qualifications/Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
- HS or equivalent education
- ECECD certification (45 hours) and meet state requirements for the position
- At least 1 year of childcare experience
Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds care for young children and sustain long hours of active work. This includes being conscious and alert during your shift and being able to chase small children around. Active engagement is required throughout your shift; this often means getting down on the floor to interact with them several times. You will need to have a quick response to various situations in a dynamic environment

- Mathematical Skills- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
