How Youll Make a Difference
Navigate the waters of a growing and resilient industry. Woodard & Curran seeks a highly motivated and experienced National Business Development Leader (NBDL) to lead our public sector business development team. You will identify growth opportunities in alignment with executing the companys vision and strategic plan while leading and partnering in decision-making that sustains organizational change. You will leverage current partnerships and develop new strategic relationships ensuring the achievement of sales market position and client satisfaction goals. This Business Development leadership position requires expertise in sales within the water and environmental markets in the public doing so you will support the execution of a market-led approach based on leveraging the full power of Woodard & Curran talent to create value for our clients. You will promote organizational values and commitment to the development of employees as leaders throughout Woodard & Curran.
Location: Hybrid role located near one of Woodard & Currans primary office locations.

Travel: Travel required approximately 15 - 40%.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for public sector clients aligned with the companys objectives and vision that achieves sales targets revenue growth and profitability goals
- Build develop and manage a high-performing business development team capable of executing sales and client service initiatives including client management plans large-account strategies and the identification and development of future Client Managers.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic market and client plans that leverage the companys strengths and unique offerings in the public sector.
- Recommend and implement sales strategies and improvements based on market research regulatory drivers and competitor analyses including developing discrete service offerings and market content in conjunction with technical and operational leadership.
- Collaborate across the organization and manage budgets to achieve the targeted cost of sales.
- Foster a culture of innovation continuous improvement and client-centricity within the business development team to deliver exceptional results and exceed client expectations.
- Monitor market trends industry developments and regulatory changes shaping the public sector water and environmental landscape to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector including industry leaders potential clients and government entities to drive business growth and enhance market position.
- STRATEGIC: Brings a long-range enterprise-wide perspective to problem-solving and decision-making; uses objective analysis disciplined planning and effective execution to advance business goals and support sustainable growth.
- COMMUNICATION: Communicates clearly directly and thoroughly; shares information in a timely manner sets clear expectations and articulates viewpoints needs and desired outcomes in ways that promote alignment and action.
- COLLABORATION: Inspires energy engagement and commitment from others; creates enthusiasm around shared goals and fosters a dynamic high-activity environment that motivates teams to deliver results.
- MANAGEMENT FOCUS: Drives action and accountability by providing direction influencing outcomes facilitating group progress and stepping forward to guide teams through priorities decisions and execution.
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience leading teams to achieve market growth and business development goals in the environmental sector.
- Proven consulting industry leadership in client development sales systems and public sector environmental services.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing client growth strategies aligned with company objectives that achieve goals.
- Strong client service mindset with the ability to understand client needs priorities and decision-making structures.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Disciplined management approach with the ability to define outcomes set priorities direct action and strengthen processes and systems.
- Consistent demonstration of integrity and accountability to build trust and meet commitments.
- Experience building high-performing sustainable collaborative teams with strong morale.
- Proven leadership under pressure including sound decision-making change leadership and the courage to drive needed improvements.
This role has the option for remote work and the anticipated pay range is flexible depending on factors such as the employees primary work location skills experience and education. The following examples illustrate how the pay range for the same role can vary based on different locations.
Group A (ME FL) $185000 $225000
Group B (PA MA MO GA RI) $205000 - $250000
Group C (CT Andover/Canton/Boston MA CA NY) $225000 - $300000
This positions anticipated pay range is provided; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level and consider a percentage-based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials recognize and reflect the cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
