Department: MT/MLT
Certs: Do they need BLS (will they have contact w/ patients)
MLT or MT certified: (CA requires CLS)
Do they need ASCP (American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science) or AMT (American Medical Technologists) They dont need BLS but would be a bonus. They do need ASCP or AMT and yes MLT or MT certified
What areas do they cover
(Hematology/Serology Chemistry/Coag Micro & Blood Bank) Chemistry/Hematology/Urinalysis/Blood Bank/ gram stains
Do they need to be a Generalist Yes
Do they need to perform Phlebotomy Does not have to but would be good if they did
Experience or Must have skills & common job duties Regular Med Tech Skills able to multi task and work alone
LIS System (ie. Polytech Avalon Orchard Software Apollo Prolis BioTracer etc.) Meditech Magic
