Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to manage the daily operations maintenance of schedules and overall personnel needs of the Elementary Department to foster a safe collaborative environment for students staff and families. Reporting closely to the Chief Educational Programs Officer (CEPO) the position is responsible for interviewing orienting and evaluating faculty leading department meetings and implementing professional development. Key academic and operational duties include coordinating student placements monitoring lesson plans overseeing standardized testing and enforcing IEP implementation and data collection. Additionally this role drives the schools master schedule supports the bilingual education philosophy and language and literacy planning and policy manages school discipline and safety protocols and monitors the overall well-being and attendance of both students and staff.
POSITION DUTIES
This position isresponsible for the daily operations of the Elementary Department that entailsdaily coverage subbing the support of the departments needs and themaintenance of daily addition to operating the department thisincludes serving students teachers staff and families. Duties includeassistance in hiring/orientation of new faculty observation and evaluation ofstaff the direction of staff/department meetings the planning andimplementation of the professional development training and in-service eventsand the coordination of staff assignments and student placements. This positiontakes responsibilities in creating and improving the schools master schedulearranging school functions supporting the bilingual education philosophy andlanguage and literacy planning and policy assisting with classroom managementpromoting consistent discipline within the school enforcing the IEPimplementation and data collection supervising state and local standardizedtesting to ensure compliance with established processes and policies andmonitoring weekly units and lesson plans that include appropriate educationalobjectives strategies and activities. This position includes adhering to theschools school safety protocols progressive disciplinary action due processas well as monitoring and maintaining student and staff well-being includingattendance and progress reports. This position collaborates closely with theCampus Chief Educational Programs Officer (CEPO) and its office as well as withother programs in the school. May be asked to assume other duties as assignedby CEPO.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters degree in Education of Deaf students Educationof Deaf students with additional disabilities or Special Education required.
Experience: Three years of successful classroom teaching experiencewith Deaf and Hard of Hearing students required. Must be fluent inAmerican Sign Language and written English. Superior interpersonal and activelistening skills required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Deaf Communityis preferred.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must hold the MarylandState Department of Education (MSDE) Administrator II certification or Supervisors of Instruction Assistant Principals andPrincipals licensure or be eligible toobtain Supervisorsof Instruction Assistant Principals and Principals licensure in the required timeframe.
