The M&D Platforms Leader owns the technology foundation that makes Fleet Operational Intelligence possible the secure scalable infrastructure that connects more than 2700 turbine trains to the analytics and engineering teams whose insights reduce unplanned outage days and customer events across the global fleet.
M&D monitors more than 1000 power plants globally processing 600 terabytes of operational data and executing 300M analytic runs annually. The service generates nearly 22000 recommendations per year with analytics designed to detect developing issues weeks to months in advance helping deliver an estimated $250M in annual customer value across the monitored fleet. That value depends entirely on data that is secure complete and available. Your team makes that possible.
This is a newly formed team vertically integrated from sensor to cloud and you will shape how it operates from day one. The platform you lead is the foundation that the Analytics Foundry and M&D Insight Central teams depend on to deliver proactive intelligence to customers. When the platform performs the insights reach customers faster the analytics run deeper and the fleet stays ahead of failure.
Your leadership will directly drive:
End-to-end platform ownership leading engineers software developers digital hardware specialists and cybersecurity professionals who build and sustain the secure data collection systems cloud-based analytics platforms and sensor system technologies that power FOIs proactive insight mission
Sensor Systems capability advancing blade health generator health and connected sensor technologies that expand the data foundation FOI depends on to detect risks earlier and deliver more precise actionable insights to customers
FOI platform partnership working directly with Analytics Foundry and M&D Insight Central to ensure platform capabilities data quality latency coverage and scale continuously meet the evolving needs of FOIs proactive insight mission
Cybersecurity governance holding the team accountable for a secure stable operational posture across all monitoring and central systems protecting the data integrity that every FOI insight depends on
Continuous platform improvement driving a Lean culture that advances platform reliability data quality and the speed at which new analytics capabilities reach the fleet directly contributing to fewer unplanned outage days and better customer decisions
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead a team of people leaders and technical experts accountable for the full lifecycle of data collection infrastructure analytics platforms and sensor systems that support the M&D service
- Own the strategy and execution for on-site monitoring systems installed at customer sites including installation commissioning and maintenance of secure data connections to plant control systems
- Direct the development and maintenance of on-premises and cloud infrastructure that processes and delivers operational data at the scale quality and latency that fleet analytics and proactive insight delivery require
- Drive the development of applications and services that support all aspects of monitoring systems and central data platforms
- Govern cybersecurity posture across all monitoring and central systems holding the team accountable for secure stable operations
- Lead the development and support of sensor systems including blade health and generator health monitoring that expand the data foundation FOI depends on to detect risks earlier and deliver more precise actionable insights to customers
- Partner with Analytics Foundry M&D Insight Central and Fleet Reliability teams to ensure platform capabilities data quality latency coverage and scale continuously meet the evolving needs of FOIs proactive insight mission
- Build and sustain a culture of Lean daily management and standard work driving continuous improvement in platform reliability data quality and the speed at which new analytics capabilities reach the fleet
- Communicate technical recommendations and platform performance clearly to internal and external stakeholders through structured reporting and presentations
- Attract develop and retain engineering and technical talent across a matrixed global organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited college or university or 10 years working directly in an engineering role
- 5 years of direct people leadership with demonstrated accountability for team performance and talent development
- Demonstrated experience owning operational processes and delivering outcomes across engineering or technology-intensive organizations
- Demonstrated experience managing cybersecurity posture governance or risk mitigation in an operational technology or connected industrial environment
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with Gas Power services power generation equipment or industrial monitoring and diagnostics
- Proven track record leading teams that develop deploy or maintain complex software hardware or data systems in production environments
- Adept at generating strategy and then operationalizing it translating vision into structured plans measurable milestones and sustained operational outcomes
