PCU is a20 bedunit capable of monitoring patients via central telemetry 24 hours a day. PCU serves as a place for the monitoring and care of patientsage16 to geriatric with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support.
The Monitor Techis responsible forcontinuousmonitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms documenting and promptly communicating any significant arrhythmias to theappropriate clinicalpersonnel.Assiststhe nursing team by detecting changes in cardiac rate rhythm NIBP arterial line readings and oxygensaturation ensuringtimelycommunication of these changes to the relevant clinical staff.
Description:
Monitor interpret and document cardiac rhythms vital signs and telemetry data; promptly report changes or abnormalities.
Assistwith cardiac monitoring procedures andmaintainappropriate alarmsettings.
Enter patient telemetry data on admission andmaintainaccuratemonitoring records.
Answer and route calls respond to call lights and communicate effectively with nurses physicians telemetry staff patients and visitors.
Troubleshootmaintain clean and disinfect telemetry equipment; report equipment issues as needed.
Maintainaccuratepatient censusmonitorinventory and ensure proper documentation of rhythm strips and telemetry supplies.
Follow safety infection control emergency preparedness and regulatory requirements.
Attend required training and support Baptist Healths mission values and culture of safety.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
No prior experience.
BLS certification; Life-Threatening Arrhythmia Training and Aegis/DY trainingwithin establishedtimeframes.
Ability to learn and perform cardiac monitoring and telemetry-related duties.
