position is located in District 04/Unit 721 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2. The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. This position requires the incumbent to possess a Class A CDL license at the time of appointment and to maintain license.

Three years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties:

• Operates Mobile Crane/Draglines (lifting capacity >40000 lbs. but <80000 lbs.) or the pile driving operations.

• Operates heavy equipment as needed.

• Performs various road and bridge maintenance and general labor duties such as flagging patching pot holes and full depth patches in bridge decks cleaning storm drains and any other needed road and bridge construction and/or maintenance as directed by supervisor.

• Attends required training in accordance with the departments structured training program.

• Provides guidance to and oversees work of lower level operators acts as lead worker and completes daily work reports for the crew in the absence of the foreman. Maintains a Class A CDL; reports CDL revocation to appropriate personnel in accordance with the departments Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Policy (PPM#25).

• May be required to perform other duties as necessary including but not limited to emergency/disaster support activities.

This position requires a Class A CDL before appointment.

• MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2/HEAVY:
  Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. The starting salary for MEO-2/HEAVY will be $22.52/hourly.
