Job Description:

The Part-time Academic Coordinator for the LIFE at LSC program supports inclusive postsecondary education by providing direct academic and skill-based support to students with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. This position works collaboratively with the LIFE Program Director faculty peer tutors and student support services to ensure students have equitable access to academic content digital resources and experiential learning opportunities. The Academic Coordinator promotes student success through individualized tutoring skill development and guidance that reinforces the programs core principle that learning is accessible to everyone

Salary Range:$24.40-$35.30 hourly $50947-$73706 annually

*Salary placement is dependent on education and experience annual salary will be prorated to hours work in a year based on part-time employment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience that supports or provides administrative support for academic instructional or mentoring support to students preferably in a postsecondary transition or student support services setting. A Bachelors degree may substitute for one year of experience; an Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of digital learning tools including learning management systems and common instructional technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students faculty staff and peer tutors.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student development including promoting independence self-advocacy and skill-building in academic vocational and life skills contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds commitment to equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associates degree in education special education social work psychology human services or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience OR a bachelors degree in education special education disability services rehabilitation services psychology or a related field.
  • Experience working in a postsecondary inclusive education program or transition from high school program for students with disabilities.
  • Experience supervising mentoring or coordinating student employees or peer tutors.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools that support diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of vocational skill development independent living skills and workforce readiness programming. Training or certification related to disability support services Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or inclusive teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of ADA FERPA and data privacy policies.

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work):

Part-time M-F 8:00 am-4:00pm up to 32 hours per week during academic year.
