Job Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security within U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operation Boston Field Office Mission Support Division in Boston MA.
Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
In this position you will plan and carry out a wide variety of mission support duties for the Field Office relative to logistics procurement fleet management and associated functions.
This position starts at a salary of $84579.00 (GS-11 Step 1) to $131790.00 (GS-12 Step 10) with promotion potential to $131790.00 (GS-12 Step 10).
As Mission Support Specialist Logistics your duties may include:
- Conducting inventories and records management in accordance with local and higher headquarters directives and preparing various property reports.
- Reviewing bills on a monthly basis to prevent overcharging and misuse and ensuring appropriate forms are completed for Personnel Equipment.
- Researching suppliers and working with requesters to procure goods/services then preparing required document and submitting for approval.
- Performing basic supplies research and performing basic tasks associated with creating requisitions and forwarding for approval. Identifying inventory deficiencies and restocking supplies as needed.
- Coordinating facilitates repairs and ensuring facility repairs requests are recorded into the facilities management system.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level performing duties such as:
- Assisting senior level staff on logistics procurement inventory fleet management or other associated functions.
- Developing and maintaining various electronic files; creating inventory reports work processing documents presentations and spreadsheets utilizing standard computer tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Utilizing automated databases to track analyze and report logistics property procurement fleets or other facilities-related information.
- Coordinating routine facilities equipment telephone safety security or environmental support requests and communicating status updates or procedural guidance to customers staff or management officials.
- Assisting with property management activities such as receiving inventorying transferring excessing reutilizing or retiring property in accordance with established policies and procedure.
- Managing property accountability functions including acquisition receipt transfer repairs excess retirement inventory and reporting of personnel property in accordance with policies and records management requirements.
- Researching vendors coordinating with requestors preparing purchase or requisition documentation and preparing documentation for submission to senior staff and leadership.
- Executing purchase card transactions reconciling statements maintaining required files and identifying inventory deficiencies in accordance with policies and guidelines.
- Supporting the fleet management program to included preparing fleet reports ordering and auditing fleet cards reconciling invoices and assisting with vehicle ordering receipt transfer inventory or excess actions.
- Coordinating facility repair and service requests and ensuring repair requests are documented in the facilities management system.
Combining Education and Experience: To combine your education and experience convert each to a percentage and then add the percentages. If your education is described in quarter hours multiply by the fraction 2/3 to convert into semester hours then divide the semester hours by 18. To determine your percentage of qualifying experience divide your total months of experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages together. The total must equal at least 100% in order to qualify. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify for positions at grade GS-11.
There is no education substitution for the GS-12 grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
You must:
- Meet all qualification requirements including education if applicable to this position subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
- Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/28/2026.
