Milling Machine Machinist

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist in Palmdale California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will set up and operate precision milling machines to manufacture complex components to exacting tolerances using engineering drawings specialized tooling and precision measurement equipment.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience in machining or a manufacturing machine-shop environment.
• Experience setting up and operating horizontal vertical plain and/or universal milling machines.
• Ability to independently perform machine setups and determine machining sequences.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints sketches and engineering specifications.
• Experience selecting mounting and aligning specialized machine attachments and tooling.
• Ability to determine and adjust machining speeds feeds and depth of cut.
• Experience using machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform standard shop calculations.
• Ability to machine components to close tolerances.
• Formal machining apprenticeship equivalent technical training or comparable hands-on experience.
• U.S. citizenship required.

• 2 years of machining manufacturing experience.
• Experience performing complex milling operations including:
  • Compound angles and contours
  • Boring compound angular holes
  • Helical and spiral milling
  • Serrating
  • Gear spline and keyway cutting
• Experience monitoring and verifying quality using statistical process controls or similar quality procedures.

• Set up and operate precision milling machines.
• Plan machining sequences and determine the number of cuts and setup methods required.
• Select and install tooling and specialized machine attachments.
• Set and adjust machine speeds feeds and cutting depths.
• Machine complex features and contours to engineering requirements.
• Interpret engineering drawings sketches and specifications.
• Measure mark and scribe dimensions and reference points for machining.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify component dimensions.
• Perform shop calculations supporting machining operations.
• Monitor and verify product quality throughout the machining process.
• Maintain compliance with applicable manufacturing and quality requirements.

• Full-time onsite in Palmdale California.
• 4x10 schedule MondayThursday.
• 40 hours per week.

• $48.97 per hour.
