Mill Assistant - 2nd Shift
Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Mill Assistant to be based out of Harvey IL. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor the Mill Assistant will be responsible to load slit coils on payoff reels load welding machine and to maintain the zinc pot.
What youll do:
- Assist in locating master coils on coil racks.
- Cut bands on master coil and slit coils when needed.
- Remove slit coil from master coil with jib/gantry crane.
- Position slit coil on payoff reel and adjust arbor to ID of coil.
- Feed strip to welder and assist welder when needed.
- Keep zinc pots full of zinc.
- Keep zinc pot and area around zinc pot clean including drossing when needed.
- Re-band coils on payoff reel or master coil when removing from mill area.
- Wire brush rusty steel prior to welding.
- Assist on mill changeovers per supervisors instructions.
- Help clear out fold ups.
What youll bring:
- Experience in industrial manufacturing
- Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Operation of a handheld scanner and utilization of a variety of printed work instructions as part of daily work assignment
- RF Scanning knowledge.
- Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen
Within 3 months youll:
- Show progress and/or complete job specific training
- Be well-versed in Atkores Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
- Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.
