Middle School Special Education Paraprofessional Anticipated Opening

Title:Paraprofessional/Teaching Assistant/Instructional Aide

Reports to: Classroom Teacher

Qualifications: High School diploma Associates or Bachelors degree. Experience working with children with special needs and middle school aged students preferred.

Scope of Duties:

• Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
• Assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives.
• Ensure the safety of the children in all environments.
• Assist in facilitating independence social awareness language and appropriate behavior.
• Assist the teacher in the inclusion of students with special needs into the mainstream school.
• Assist the teacher in the collection of data.
• Participates in training in relevant areas.
• Carries out other assigned duties for example; supervise student(s)at lunch or in the playground; clerical tasks etc. as assigned by the classroom teacher program principal or executive director.
• Must be able to lift pull or push approximately 40 lbs and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to standing.
• Must be willing to work with verbally and/or physically aggressive students.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
