Compensation Range: $44770.00 - $50550.80 (DOE)
Position Summary
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence college readiness and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate data-driven 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to deliver rigorous standards-aligned instruction while building strong literacy analytical thinking communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a love of reading and writing while preparing scholars for high school through engaging evidence-based instruction.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction strong classroom culture and consistent data-driven decision-making.
- Deliver rigorous standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
- Teach reading comprehension literary analysis informational text argumentative and narrative writing grammar vocabulary and speaking and listening skills.
- Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and targeted interventions.
- Prepare students for high school-level literacy expectations through rigorous instruction and critical thinking.
- Establish and maintain a structured positive and high-expectations classroom environment.
- Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
- Support students academic behavioral and social-emotional development.
- Create an inclusive classroom that encourages student voice collaboration and respectful discussion.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.
- Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
- Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Education English Secondary Education Elementary Education or a relevant content area)
OR
- Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area
OR
- Minimum of three (3) years of K12 teaching experience
Additionally candidates must:
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
- Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
- Exhibit collaboration professionalism and initiative in a team-based environment.
