MGH-Side-seam Welder Operator

The Side Seam Weld Operator is responsible for proper placement of steel during operations moving placing stacking adjusting. Maintains machinery and makes adjustments to all equipment in the process of handling steel sheets. Repairs and assists in the repair of equipment. Adheres to Rheem quality and safety standards. Maintains a clean and safe environment.

This position will serve our Water Heating Division located in Montgomery AL.

• Assist and direct lift truck drivers in properly positioning steel on storage conveyor.
• Activates conveyor and visually check that stack of steel has been properly positioned and transferred to the destacker.
• Activates the destacker determines whether adjustments are necessary.
• Adjust hand wheels to ensure sheets enter forming rolls properly.
• Transfer shells to welding operations.
• Makes any necessary adjustments to hourglass rolls pushers side rails switches weld & planish speed controls pressure and heat settings upper weld wheel and planish roll end nipper for tank height.
• Makes minor repairs on machinery and when necessary assists maintenance in making major repairs.
• Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
• Observe all departmental safety requirements.
• Maintain quality standards according to specifications.
• Work from written or verbal orders.
• Practice and support Rheem values with internal as well as external customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
