Job Description:

Provides access to care and information to patients seeking care in the Outpatient Psychiatric Clinics.
Contacts Managed Care Organizations and Third-Party Payers to determine Mental Health benefits and
interacts with medical and therapeutic staff to schedule patients with the appropriate providers.
The ages of patients served spans the spectrum of the life cycle. Care will be directed at taking information
from patients answering questions from patients visitors etc. recognizing that every age group has unique
developmental characteristics influencing the approach that should be utilized in dealing with these patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
High School diploma/GED required. Graduate from an approved school with an Associate Degree in
Mental Health Technology or two years of college in Psychology Social Work or related field.
Course work in Public Relations or Communications preferred.
Typing skill of 35 WPM required. Minimum one-year experience in medical office procedures
preferred. Must be able to operate multi-line telephone system.
Must complete training in EMR and be deemed competent by testing within probationary period. Must
complete training within Star registration system and be deemed competent by testing within
probationary period.
Must be able to demonstrate proficient interviewing techniques and empathic interactions appropriate
to the emotional well being of the patient. Must be able to resolve questions and complaints and to
provide concise follow up as relates to patient initial appointment.
Previous Ambulatory Care and/or Behavioral Health experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Course work in Public Relations or Communications preferred.
Previous Ambulatory Care and/or Behavioral Health experience preferred.
