Laboratory Tech (Transfusion Services) - Full-Time Evenings Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Norfolk VA

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Tech to join our Transfusion Services (Blood Bank) team on a full-time evening shift. This role is ideal for a laboratory professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic testing and contributing to exceptional patient care.

The Laboratory Tech performs a variety of laboratory testing procedures within Transfusion Services ensuring accurate and timely results that support patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include analyzing specimens interpreting and documenting results maintaining laboratory equipment and adhering to all regulatory and quality standards.

• Perform laboratory testing and analysis in Transfusion Services/Blood Bank.
• Accurately interpret document and report test results.
• Follow established laboratory policies procedures and quality control standards.
• Operate troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with pathologists physicians nurses and laboratory team members to support patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Chemical Science Physical Science Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Science required.

Certification

• ASCP AMT or AAB certification required.

Experience

• Previous Transfusion Services/Blood Bank experience preferred.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages inclusive of base pay incentives and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $37.13 - $54.39 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials on-call pay overtime shift premiums extra-shift incentives or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications experience location market conditions and business needs.
