Medical Assisting Career & Tech. Ed. Teacher

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide instruction in the content in accordance with the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Frameworks for Medical Assisting
  2. Curriculum Map and scaffold Massachusetts Framework in Medical Assisting to support the learning continuum and maximize student growth and understanding in the career area.
  3. Enforce and Educate all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
  4. Instruct and Manage students in the field when participating in clinical placement.
  5. Document student performance student behavior and student achievement within the career education setting.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of students IEPs as well as the accommodations and modifications necessary for student success; modify assignments tests and quizzes in collaboration with special educators if required.
  7. Develop resources for students to be successful such as models graphic organizers and copies of class notes video clips demonstrations etc.
  8. Participate as a member of the CTE Department; collaborate with teachers within the department and across academic disciplinary
  9. Collaborate with Community Partners to place students in their career areas.
  10. Maintain documentation for student performance CTE hours student absences/tardies
  11. Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum and classroom.
  12. Corresponds both oral and written with parent/ administrators related to student needs
  13. Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year; attend Open House Attend parent-teacher conferences twice a year and all after-school faculty/department meetings.
  14. Communicate with Advisory Boards members to maintain realistic work expectations
  15. Keep current within the Medical Profession to educate students on relevant and authentic skills and topics.
  16. Prepares the student to receive their Registered Medical Assistant Certification
  17. Have Recent experience as a Medical Assistant and or Registered Nurse
  18. Responsible for providing training and education in types of healthcare settings professional behavior Interpersonal and computer-mediated communication collecting a medical history EMRs Billing scheduling computer skills infection control procedures triage procedures vital signs across the life span assisting with physical examination medication administration ECG laboratory specimen collection and processing venipuncture a capillary puncture for basic hematological procedures urinalysis. donning and doffing PPE and medical specialty procedures.
  19. Provide education in Anatomy and Physiology Medical Terminology Disease Pathology Clinical and Administrative Medical Assistant as well as BLS and First Aid

REQUIRED

  1. Massachusetts Chapter 74 Licensure in Allied Health or be eligible to attain a preliminary vocational-technical teacher license.
  2. Associate degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught Such as Medical Assisting and or Nursing
  3. Four years of full-time employment experience (within the last seven years) directly related to Medical Assisting and or Nursing.
  4. High School Diploma.
  5. SEI Endorsement OR ability to achieve SEI endorsement within three years of hire.
  6. Citizenship residency or work visa/pass a criminal background check
