Job Summary
Express Care formally known as Urgent Care is a convenient option for patients 18 months and older who require timely medical care but the situation is not an emergency. Because patients typically come to us when they arent feeling their best it is incredibly important to us that our staff members strive to provide the compassion and emotional support our patients need.We are seeking a full-time 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our Urgent Care team in Greenfield MA!
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm.
Summary
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs documenting patient information scheduling appointments and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns as well as collaboration with physicians nurse practitioners and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.
Medical Assistants in this role will also receive training in occupational health services offered through Express Care. This includes training in urine drug screening alcohol testing and audiometric screenings for patients completing employer-sponsored occupational health testing. This provides an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical skill set and gain hands-on experience in occupational health services.

Essential Functions:
-Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
-Show patients to examination rooms prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers and interview patients to obtain medical information measure their vital signs weight and height and record information in the patients medical record.
-Explain treatment procedures medications diets and physician instructions to patients ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
-Perform general office duties such as answering phones taking dictation and completing insurance forms while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
-Collect blood tissue or other laboratory specimens log them and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
-Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
-Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
-Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Since Urgent Care is a 7-day-per-week operation that delivers care days evenings weekends and holidays we request staff to be flexible with scheduling needs and take on weekend/holiday coverage as needed.
We do our best to keep all employees in their assigned locations; however you may also be asked to float to other locations for training/precepting purposes or during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes). The other locations are Northampton Amherst or Southampton.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Associates Degree Medical Assisting preferred
